Microsoft rewards Xbox Live veterans with custom Xbox 360s

Consoles given away to celebrate the online service's tenth anniversary

Microsoft has rewarded a number of long-serving Xbox Live members with custom Xbox 360 consoles.

Recipients of the Xbox Live tenth anniversary consoles have also received a free year-long subscription to the online service.

It's unclear how many of the consoles are being given away by Microsoft, but Xbox's Larry 'Major Nelson' Hryb said on Twitter that the platform holder is "surprising some of the #Xbox LIVE members that have been with us the longest" with one of the systems.

In February Microsoft claimed that the Xbox Live subscriber base had topped 40 million, and in July it said the service had experienced strong further growth.
