Costs just £2.99 in the UK

Rockstar has released Grand Theft Auto: Vice City 10th Anniversary Edition for iOS devices, but launch of the Android version is being held up.

Priced at £2.99/$4.99, the game features native high-resolution graphics, updated character models and lighting effects, new firing and targeting options, plus a customisable control layout.

"Grand Theft Auto: Vice City is everything we loved about the 80's packed into a sprawling open world action game," said Rockstar founder Sam Houser.

"We're thrilled to let mobile and tablet players experience everything Vice City has to offer."

Pocket Gamer reports that the Android version, which was also scheduled for release today, has been pulled due to XAPK validation issues.

Rockstar said on its blog: "We're aware that some users have attempted to download Vice City: 10th Anniversary Edition from the Google Play Store and have experienced validation errors.

"Just to be clear: the game is not available for Android devices just yet, and if you're seeing it listed on the Store then this is an error, and you shouldn't attempt to download it. We'll keep you up to date and let you know as soon as the game is live and available to purchase."

We called the 2002 PS2 version of the game phenomenal in our original Grand Theft Auto Vice City review.
