NPD: Xbox 360 outperforms Nintendo's Wii U launch

US sales figures show Microsoft on top

The NPD Group reports that the Xbox 360 sold 1.26 million units in November 2012, which combined with software sales accumulated 1.2 billion in revenue - more than any other console.

Despite the launch of a new console in Nintendo's Wii U - which performed better than the Wii's launch in 2006 - Microsoft's console continued to outsell all rivals in the US.

NPD's industry analyst Liam Callahan noted that "half of the software dollars sold in November 2012 were for the Xbox 360, which gained 8 share points in overall software sales from last November."
