Metro: Last Light Limited Edition features hardcore Ranger Mode

Demo unlikely to be released prior to the game's March 2013 launch

THQ has revealed the Metro: Last Light Limited Edition.

Available to pre-order now ahead of the game's March 2013 release, it will feature a copy of the game, Ranger Mode difficulty, plus a bonus weapon and equipment.

"'Ranger Mode' provides the definitive Metro experience," said Huw Beynon, creative strategist at THQ. "It's deservedly regarded as one of the most immersive, atmospheric challenges in gaming and we think fans will be very happy to see its return in the Metro: Last Light Limited Edition."

North Americans who pre-order the Limited Edition digital version of Metro: Last Light on the PlayStation Network will receive a free digital copy of Homefront at launch. They'll also get a Metro: Last Light PSN theme at the time of pre-order.

Metro: Last Light Limited Edition contents:

  • Ranger Mode - Experience complete immersion. No HUD, less bullets and brutal combat. Hardcore, the way it was meant to be played.
  • Extra Military Grade Bullets - Coveted for their ability to kill, these bullets are also the currency of the Metro. Will you use them in battle or purchase precious resources? The choice is yours.
  • Modified Russian Rifle - A compact but deadly Russian assault rifle, perfect for claustrophobic combat.

Meanwhile, the Metro: Last Light Twitter account has revealed that a pre-release demo of the shooter is unlikely given that "the development timeline to release is very tight".

It also said that the possibility of a multiplayer component being added to the single player-only game as post-launch DLC "is only a rumor".
