Square Enix has released a new Tomb Raider video showcasing the game's recently announced multiplayer component.
The series reboot is the first game in the long-running franchise to feature multiplayer, which is being developed by Deus Ex: Human Revolution studio Eidos Montreal rather than single player campaign creator Crystal Dynamics.
The multiplayer component will feature at least two modes, Team Deathmatch and Rescue, plus various character loadout and XP-building options.
As you can see from the footage (gameplay kicks off properly at around the 4:35 mark), multiplayer will feature a focus on gunplay and traversal complemented by environmental hazards and booby traps.
Square Enix has confirmed a Tomb Raider release date of March 5, 2013. If you're thinking of picking it up, check out the Tomb Raider Survival and Collector's editions, as well as a range of pre-order incentives being offered by retailers.
