US Skylanders franchise sales have surpassed $500 million, according to data from retail monitor the NPD Group released by publisher Activision today.
The revenue total combines game sales, toy figures and accessory packs.
John Coyne, VP of consumer marketing for Activision Publishing, said: "Just a year ago, the concept of bringing toys to life in a virtual world was an untested play pattern that Activision and Toys For Bob believed in. Now the category has been established in the market and embraced by parents and kids everywhere
"We're humbled by the continued support and acclaim from parents, kids and critics alike, but more importantly, it's gratifying to see kids excited about the adventures that await them both in the digital and physical worlds."
Disney is preparing to reveal an ambitious new game project next Tuesday, January 15, during a Hollywood event featuring the CCO of Walt Disney and Pixar Animation Studios. Titled Disney Infinity and expected to launch on consoles, PC and mobiles, the project is rumoured to be a cross universe, "theme-park-running, movie-making, game developer's take on Skylanders".
