Screenwriter confirmed for Assassin's Creed film

Michael Lesslie to pen script

The screenplay for the forthcoming Assassin's Creed film will be penned by the relatively unknown Michael Lesslie.

Lesslie, who has no feature-length films under his belt, has penned scripts for short films including Skirt and Heavy Metal Drummer. He's also the playwright responsible for Prince of Denmark.

The film - which is a collaborative effort between studio New Regency and Ubisoft Motion Pictures - will star Michael Fassbender in its lead role. It was announced in October that the preparation of a screenplay would be 'fast tracked' following the partnership, despite news of Lesslie's commitment coming months later.

Ubisoft Motion Pictures will also produce films based on its Splinter Cell and Ghost Recon franchises. Tom Hardy has been confirmed to play Sam Fisher in the Splinter Cell adaptation.
