Capcom: Devil May Cry plans unaffected by HMV collapse

Yet other publishers say they are not yet in a position to comment

Embattled retailer HMV will still stock Capcom's latest major game DmC: Devil May Cry despite the retailer going into administration, CVG has learned.

The game, out Tuesday in the US and UK, is widely regarded as a key console release in the first half of 2013 and has been lauded by games critics.

But on the same day HMV appointed Deloitte as its administrator after the business failed to secure certain repayment terms on bank loans, which in turn cast doubts over its capacity to secure stock.

In a statement sent to CVG, Capcom eased concerns by stating:

"We can confirm that DmC Devil May Cry is available to purchase from HMV stores and any orders placed via its online store will be shipped. If customers have any concerns we recommend they contact their local HMV store."

Other publishers, however, have told CVG that it is too early to speculate on whether it can remain in business with HMV.

A spokesperson for HMV said it hopes to work "as close to normal store practices as possible" during its administration period.
