Analyst claims iPhone 6 will boast 4.8-inch screen

Smaller, low-cost smartphone also rumoured to be in development

Apple is readying iPhone 6 to enter production ahead of a release date in June or July, according to Jefferies analyst Peter Misek.

In a note sent to investors last week, Misek said that Apple is testing two new iPhone prototypes. He speculated that the next generation iPhone 6 will feature a 4.8-inch screen, which would be 0.8-inches larger than the most recent model's display.

Backing up previous reports, the analyst also forecast the release of a new low-end model, noting: "Similar to the iPad mini, we expect a concentrated low-cost iPhone rather than a 'cheap' one. Likely specs: polycarbonate case with 4in non-Retina display and no LTE."

And Apple may launch the fifth generation iPad and second generation iPad mini this March, according to Topeka Capital Markets analyst Brian White.

Earlier this month it was claimed that Apple has slashed its orders for iPhone 5 components based on weaker than expected consumer demand.
