If you long for a time when pretty much every attack could be strafed, and walls were simple blocks with blurry textures, then Gun Commando may be for you.
Developed by Green Hill Games and due to hit PlayStation Mobile and Vita today, Gun Commando comes across as a mix of Wolfenstein 3D's style with Duke Nukem 3D's attitude, with a visual aesthetic reminiscent of Mega Man.
According to Green Hill's managing director Maarten De Koning, the game's touch screen controls "rival that of the traditional mouse and keyboard setup."
"The secret of our controls is the additional momentum we apply when aiming, allowing you to turn and respond blaziningly fast, but at the same time allow you to be very precise," he blogged. "We're not fans of on-screen buttons, as we feel you need the factile feedback from the buttons in order to be in full control, so we allow you to use your thumbs anywhere on the screen."
Gun Commando is available January 23.
