Rayman creator and dev team protest Legends delay

Photos appear online with slogan: "Release Rayman. Support Ubi Montpellier"

Images have appeared online showing Rayman creator Michael Ancel appearing to protest his employer's decision to delay Rayman Legends.

The photographs show Ancel and the game's development team holding a banner which reads, "release Rayman. Support Ubi Montpellier."

The banner also features an image of a crying Rayman and a Wii U logo.

Last week fans reacted angrily to the announcement that the Wii U exclusive, which was most recently set for release in February, would now be launching in September as a multiplatform game.

Ubisoft subsequently issued a statement confirming there are no issues with development and that "the only reason for the delay is to release on multiple platforms."

Today's images are the latest suggestion of dev team unrest over the decision.

Last week an angry forum post from an alleged Rayman Legends developer called the decision "hell to swallow" and suggested the game was already complete and ready to ship.

Ubisoft later acknowledged fan outcry over the delay in a post on its Facebook page and promised a new Wii U exclusive Rayman Legends demo as compensation.

"Thanks for all your feedback regarding Rayman Legends in all of its forms," it said. "We have heard you and we will continue to listen. We understand your frustration and that you want to get your hands on the game. We are working with the development team to provide you with a new, exclusive demo for the Wii U soon. Stay tuned for more."
