But according to a report by Joystiq, Microsoft Studios has cancelled the title. In an exchange with a Microsoft representative, the site was told that "Microsoft Studios is no longer pursuing this title".

Matter was unveiled at E3 2012. Verbinski was also working on a film adaptation of BioShock which has since been cancelled.
