Ultima creator launches Kickstarter for new RPG

$1 million to 'reinvent the classic fantasy role-playing experience'

Legendary designer and Ultima creator Richard Garriott has launched a Kickstarter campaign to fund a new fantasy role-playing game.

Dubbed Shroud of the Avatar: Forsaken Virtues, the game's Kickstarter page promises a fully interactive virtual world, "deep original fiction", physical game components (including cloth maps, fictional manuals and trinkets) and a multiplayer component.

The game will also feature a classless character system, player housing, crafting, and "meaningful PVP". It is being developed for PC only.

Garriott's studio is hoping to raise $1 million dollars for the project. The campaign has so far raised $685,055 with a grand total of 10,681 backers, with 27 days to go.
