Tomb Raider has secured the No.1 spot on the UK all formats all prices chart with the biggest launch of 2013 to date.
The series reboot comfortably outsold 2013's previous best launch, Aliens: Colonial Marines, by more than two to one, according to retail monitor Chart Track.
It also beat 2006's Tomb Raider: Legend to achieve record first week sales for the franchise, although it should be pointed out that the game was the first in the series to launch as an 'Event' title on a Tuesday.
SimCity, which has suffered a highly troubled launch, debuted strongly at No.2, ahead of fellow new releases Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm 3 and The Sims 3: University Life, which is the ninth expansion pack for the EA game.
Meanwhile, new 3DS exclusive Castlevania: Lords of Shadow - Mirror of Fate failed to make the top 40 on the all formats all prices chart. It did come in at No.32 on the all formats full prices chart.
