EA-owned developer PopCap has made a duo of Plants vs. Zombies announcements today.
First up, Plants vs. Zombies 2, the sequel to the immensely popular strategy game that started life on PC/Mac before becoming a big hit on iOS devices, will arrive in 'early summer', the developer confirmed today. No further details were shared.
But before that arrives, PopCap will release Plants vs Zombies Adventures, which is dubbed a "highly accessible, zombie-zapping adaptation of the original game designed specifically for Facebook," according to PopCap San Francisco head Curt Bererton.
"The game not only offers up exclusive new plants and zombies along with old favorites, it features all-new forms of zombie combat that will open PvZ to a whole new world," he goes on to explain.
According to the PR, the game "will take players beyond the confines of the backyard", sending them on a series of road-trips, fighting zombies as they travel to different locations. "Players will also be able to send hordes of zombies to their Facebook friends," it explains, and you can expect "new zombie and plant types, new ways of obtaining, cultivating and deploying plant defenses, and leaderboards".
PvZ Adventures entered into closed beta today with select Facebook users chosen to participate, ahead of a wider launch in spring.
