BlazBlue developer Arc System Works is considering creating a new fighting game IP for PlayStation 4.
That's according to BlazBlue producer Toshimichi Mori, who told Japan's Dengeki magazine (translation via Shoryuken) that he'd like to start the new console generation with a fresh IP.
"We can't give you a definite title yet, but we want to make one," he said. "We make fighting games, so we want to release a fighting game. We want to make a new title as a third axis along with BlazBlue and Guilty Gear."
Mori went on to point out that making a new IP for PS4 would actually be in-keeping with Arc System Works' historical trend of creating something new for a console transition.
"We actually made Guilty Gear targeting the Dreamcast, and we started creating BlazBlue around the time of the PS3 release, so we want to make a game for PS4 when the system releases," said Mori.
"Creating new things at the turning point of time is who Arc System Works is, so we would like to take it on."
One of the more recent games in the BlazBlue series, BlazBlue Continuum Shift Extend, was released as a launch title for Vita last year.
Sony has confirmed a PlayStation 4 release date of 'Holiday 2013'.
