Nintendo has revealed that Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D will feature a new mode offering an easier difficulty setting.
"We've adjusted the difficulty balance in the added New Mode," Nintendo president Satoru Iwata said.
"We recommend it for anyone who's new to the series or those who found the Wii game too challenging."
In New Mode, Donkey & Diddy will each have three hearts instead of two, while a portable DK barrel will let players pull out Diddy at any time and a green balloon enables players to recover from falls.
Additionally, Iwata said: "We've added eight new levels within a new world, which you can only play after completing the full game."
Nintendo has confirmed a Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D release date of May 24 in Europe. See new screenshots and a trailer below.
