Valve has announced that the latest Team Fortress 2 update includes 'SteamPipe', a new content delivery system for Steam.
In a post on the official Team Fortress 2 website, Valve said SteamPipe "improves the way content is downloaded, updated and stored".
SteamPipe will be used to deliver content for Team Fortress 2, Counter-Strike: Source, Day of Defeat: Source, and Half-life 2: Deathmatch. The result will be faster map loading times and quicker boot times, as well as easier distribution, installation, and management of mods.
In a SteamPipe FAQ, Valve warned users that the new process could take a while to work on some computers, and requested users be patient.
In March, Gabe Newell said Valve's business has grown by about 50% in the past year.
