Ace Attorney 5 to get digital-only release in the West

Capcom cites low 'long term retail support' outside Japan

Ace Attorney 5, otherwise known as Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney - Dual Destinies, will release in the West as a download-only title.

Writing on the Capcom forums, Capcom USA Senior Vice-President Christian Svensson cited average retail performance in the West as the reason.

"A physical release is not in the cards," Svensson wrote. "Historically it's been tough to attract long term retail support for Ace Attorney titles. With the release of Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney - Dual Destinies we wanted as many people as possible to be able to enjoy the game for as long as possible.

"With that in mind we have opted for a digital only release via the Nintendo 3DS eShop."

Svensson also promised details on price points in the near future.

Ace Attorney 5 will release in Europe and North America this fall (Spring in Australia).
