El Shaddai IP sold to game director

Sawaki to develop a potential El Shaddai business

Crim, the company spearheaded by El Shaddai: Ascension of Metatron director Takeyasu Sawaki, has acquired the rights to the intellectual property from Ignition Entertainment.

Gematsu, which translated the announcement, reports the sale entails "prequel, sequel, and all other derivative rights of the existing game".

Crim has said it "will work with the entertainment industry to develop a potential El Shaddai business moving forward."

In July 2011, Sawaki said Ignition Entertainment is considering bringing the action game to new platforms such as Wii U and PS Vita.

"I believe that Ignition has speculated about how they might want to bring the El Shaddai universe to these new platforms, but nothing has been announced yet," he said.

"Clearly, both the Wii U and PS Vita offer all sorts of exciting new control methods and connectivity options, so I feel that anything is possible with these new devices," he added. "And the El Shaddai universe is rife with a multitude of avenues that could be explored."

At the time, Sawaki indicated he was particularly keen on exploring the potential of the GamePad.

"I'm personally a big fan of the iPad, so I'm curious what might be possible with touch-panel enabled consoles," he said.

Neither Wii U nor PS Vita version has been announced yet.
