Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag has a 'narrative connection' to another Ubisoft game via a hidden Easter Egg, the game's director has revealed.
Speaking to CVG at E3, Ubisoft's Ash Ismail wouldn't confirm specific details on the link, but said that fans would be pleased by the secrets hidden across Black Flag's vast Caribbean sea.
One possible connection is Ubisoft Montreal's Far Cry series, which has twice been set on a tropical island and more recently featured its own Assassin's Creed Easter Egg.
Another possibility is the upcoming Watch Dogs, though when questioned on the subject lead story designer Kevin Short declined to comment.
It's worth noting that the Easter Egg in question could be anything from a fan service-filled mission on the Rook Islands to a Watch Dogs logo on a barrel - and the latter is far more likely.
Last week Ubisoft released a new Assassin's Creed IV trailer and batch of screens.
The publisher has confirmed an Assassin's Creed 4 release date of October 29 in the US and November 1 in the UK.
Despite the positive reaction to the game so far, Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot said in a recent investor call that he doesn't expect Assassin's Creed 4 sales to beat those of its predecessor
