3DS StreetPass crashes reported following system update

Some European users encountering problems when trying to buy new games

Nintendo is aware of StreetPass application crashes occurring on some European 3DS systems following the release of system update 6.0.0-11U.

The update adds four StreetPass games and enhances the Plaza itself with 99 new hats and various other features.

These new games can each be bought individually for $6.50 / €4.99 / £4.49 or in a pack of four for $19.50 / €14.99 / £13.49, but some users are reporting receiving error messages when trying to purchase them. Two CVG staff members have encountered this problem today.

Anecdotal evidence on Twitter suggests that players with a large number of Mii characters in their StreetPass Plaza are more likely to be affected, but this is yet to be confirmed.

Approached for comment, Nintendo told CVG: "We are aware of some reports of technical difficulties which are occurring and are currently investigating the situation."

The four new StreetPass games have been designed by separate studios. StreetPass Squad is a side-scrolling shoot 'em up from Good Feel (Kirby's Epic Yarn), while StreetPass Garden is a life sim from Grezzo (Ocarina Of Time 3D).

StreetPass Battle is a strategy game from Yuji Naka's studio Prope, while StreetPass Mansion is a murder mystery puzzle game from Chunsoft, the team behind the Pokémon Mystery Dungeon games.
