Update: A Sony Computer Entertainment Europe spokesperson told us this evening that the retailer listings are purely speculative. Other than confirming a "holiday 2013" PS4 launch window, Sony hasn't made any formal announcement regarding the console's release date.
Original story: Two notable European retailers are listing the PS4 release date as November 13, 2013.
As spotted by NeoGAF members, a Dutch Media Markt outlet is prominently advertising the console for release on Wednesday November 13 using in-store promotional displays, while Dutch online retailer Bol.com is carrying the same date. Bol also lists Xbox One for release on November 21.
Media Markt is a German-owned chain of stores that claims to be Europe's largest retailer of consumer electronics, while Wikipedia says it's the second biggest in the world after American retailer Best Buy.
On its website, the retailer has since changed its specified PS4 release date to a generic 'December 31' place holder.
Aside from first-party games like Knack and Killzone Shadow Fall, third-party titles including Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag and Call of Duty: Ghosts are expected to be available as next-gen console launch titles.
We've contacted Sony Computer Entertainment for comment.
Sony showed off the PS4 hardware for the first time during its E3 conference last week, when it confirmed a holiday 2013 PS4 release date in Europe and the US and a PS4 price of £349 / €399 / $399.
Earlier today, games industry analysts from Wedbush Morgan, IHS Screen Digest and Ascendiant Capital Markets weighed in with PS4 and Xbox One sales forecasts.
