Canadian actress Ellen Page has responded to suggestions that her likeness inspired the design of character Ellie in Naughty Dog's The Last of Us.
Although no official link was ever made between the PS3 exclusive and the actress, The Last of Us heroine Ellie's design was so similar to the likeness of Page that fans were convinced she was involved with the portrayal of the character.
Soon after the game's 2011 unveil, Ellie's design in The Last of Us appeared to have been changed from the original version, and Page was confirmed as the star of Quantic Dream's Beyond: Two Souls, another Sony title.
Speaking to fans via a Reddit AMA, Page didn't seem pleased with the situation:
"I guess I should be flattered that they ripped off my likeness, but I am actually acting in a video game called Beyond Two Souls, so it was not appreciated," she wrote.
Shortly after Page's comments Naughty Dog creative director Neil Druckmann took to Twitter to reaffirm that The Last of Us's Ellie was "perfectly played" by actress Ashley Johnson
Elsewhere in the Reddit AMA, Page revealed she was a fan of gaming "more when I was a kid," but recently reconciled with the medium.
"I played the latest Tomb Raider and really enjoyed it, finished in about 12 hours," she said.
Naughty is currently planning to release three The Last of Us DLC packs, including one single-player expansion and two multiplayer add-ons.
The Last of Us was released globally earlier this month and outsold fellow new release Animal Crossing: New Leaf to debut atop the UK charts.
