Nintendo will be retiring the Pokémon Global Link service for Pokémon Black and White and its sequels ahead of the launch for Pokémon X & Y.
The closure of the Pokémon Global Link service will begin in October, with certain functions being switched off over a three month period, before it is closed completely in January 2014.
The Pokémon Global Link website has detailed the schedule of when each service will be closed. When the service is closed completely, "all connection functionality with these video games will become unavailable."
A new Pokémon Global Link for Pokémon X & Y will launch in October, but details will provided "in the near future," the site claims.
Those who have enjoyed Pokémon Global Link over the years will be able to carry over some achievements and records to the new Global Link if they register with the same username. More details on this will be provided at a later date.
Pokémon X & Y has a confirmed global release of October 12, and includes a range of new game features such as the new Fairy type Pokémon, and Pokemon-Amie, which allows players to build a better connection with their Pokémon.
