Earth Defense Force 2025 tops Japanese chart

While 3DS leads hardware sales

Earth Defense Force 2025 debuted at No.1 on the Japanese software chart during the week ended July 7.

The PS3 version of the third person shooter, which sees players controlling an EDF soldier facing off against giant bugs and skyscraper-sized robots, sold over 150,000 copies to secure the top spot, while the Xbox 360 version charted at No.6.

On the hardware front, 3DS continued to dominate sales, almost managing to shift as many units as all competing platforms combined, according to Media Create data published on NeoGAF.
