No Gamescom press conference for Ubisoft

Watch Dogs and The Division publisher scales down commitment

Paris headquartered publisher Ubisoft has decided against hosting a Gamescom press conference this year, a new report has revealed.

The company told MCV that it would not be hosting a media briefing, but did not comment any further.

Ubisoft previously held press conferences at Gamescom in 2010, 2011 and 2012.

Ubisoft has held two well-recieved E3 showcases in succession

The company wowed onlookers at E3 with major projects such as Watch Dogs, The Division and Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag.

This year's Gamescom runs from August 21-25 in Cologne, Germany. Microsoft and Nintendo will attend Gamescom 2013 after both skipped last year's show. Other confirmed attendees include Sony, Bethesda, Deep Silver, EA, Konami, Ubisoft and Warner Bros.

Sony has said it will host a press conference on August 20, and CVG understands Microsoft is preparing its own press conference.

In July, Dead Rising 3 publisher Capcom confirmed it will not be attending Gamescom in any capacity. However, the publisher is expected to attend the Tokyo Game Show, which runs for four days from September 19.
