Blizzard's long in development and recently overhauled Titan project is unlikely to be a subscription-based MMORPG, according to the company's co-founder.
Speaking at an Activision Blizzard earnings call, Blizzard Entertainment co-founder Mike Morhaime repeated that the project has undergone a substantial change in direction, before admitting that it may not even be an MMORPG.
"We're in the process of selecting a new direction for the project and re-envisioning what we want the game to be," he said.
"While we can't talk about the details yet, it is unlikely to be a subscription-based MMORPG."
A Blizzard representative confirmed in May that the Titan project - which has been underway since at least 2007 - was then undergoing "large design and technology changes."
"We're using this opportunity to shift some of our resources to assist with other projects while the core team adapts our technology and tools to accommodate these new changes," the rep said.
Titan is not expected to release until 2016.
