Saints Row 4 will be available in Australia in a modified form, it has been confirmed.
Following two attempts to have an uncensored version of Saints Row 4 classified in Australia, a modified edition has been successfully classified MA15+.
The version will omit one "optional" mission, which involves the use of "virtual alien narcotics" by the player character, according to publisher Deep Silver.
"To achieve this rating one loyalty mission featuring the character Shaundi has been removed," the publisher wrote. "This mission has been widely reported on and contains the use of alien narcotics to obtain certain superpowers.
"The mission represents approximately 20 minutes of gameplay out of the hours available to purchasers."
The publisher insists the removal of the content will have "no negative impact on the story" and will "not detract from the enjoyment players will get from their Saints Row IV experience."
Meanwhile, the rectifier weapon will continue to be available as part of a DLC pack.
This is the third attempt by Deep Silver to have Saints Row 4 classified in Australia. The first two attempts were declined due to the game's inclusion of illicit drugs (alien narcotics) as an incentive or reward.
Saints Row 4 will release on August 22.
