Infinity will mark the first free-to-play venture in the Ace Combat series, promising a new story and team co-op multiplayer as part of a "wealth of free-to-play content".

Set in a "near future world", Namco says the game will retain "elements that are important to fans from previous Ace Combat titles, including super weapons and hyper-real visuals".

It'll include a story campaign for solo play, and an extensive online multiplayer mode where players will form two teams of four and "compete to inflict the most damage on a common enemy".

Revealed in July with a teaser trailer, Ace Combat Infinity is in development for PS3 at Project Aces, the internal studio behind the Ace Combat series.

Namco has confirmed an Ace Combat Infinity release date window of 'later in 2013'.
