God of War 2 writer and director Corey Barlog has returned to Sony Santa Monica, six years after leaving the studio.
The director has confirmed work on a mystery new project at the studio, for which he is "putting together a team", but held off revealing specifics on the game.
"What am I working on, you ask? Good question. Sadly, I cannot tell you...yet. But I can say that it is freaking huge, and it will live up to the standards that I helped establish here at Santa Monica Studios," he said.
Barlog quit Sony in 2007 after completing work on God of War 2 and writing early concepts for God of War 3 on PS3 and GoW: Ghost of Sparta on PSP.
The developer spent his time away from Sony traveling, and also collaborated with Crystal Dynamics on cinematics for this year's new Tomb Raider game.
Sony Santa Monica released God of War: Ascension, its most recent internal development, in March, and is currently collaborating with Ready at Dawn on a new PS4 game titled The Order: 1866, as announced at E3 in June.
