Yakuza Restoration announced for Japan-only release

Teased Yakuza news is a new game, Sega confirms

Sega has unveiled Yakuza Restoration, following promises last week of "surprise" Yakuza news.

Yakuza Restoration (or Yakuza Ishin in Japanese) was confirmed for Japan only, with details including platform, release date or localisation left unconfirmed. Only the image below, which depicts protagonist Ryoma Sakamoto, was offered.

Yakuza Restoration follows 2012's Yakuza 5, which has yet to be localised for the West. The last Yakuza game - Dead Souls - was released in early 2012.

More details on Restoration will be published in the forthcoming issue of Famitsu, according to Siliconera.

Yakuza 1 & 2 HD released for the Wii U in Japan earlier this month, marking the first time a Yakuza game has released for a non-Sony platform. Series producer Toshihiro Nagoshi told Wii U Daily that he was not expecting the ports to be a "smash hit".

"Our real intention is that we want to see how people respond. The existing [Wii U] users are different [from PlayStation owners], so isn't it hard to say if it makes sense?"

According to a report on Japanese website Dengeki, the HD collection failed to crack the top 50 software sales charts in its first week.
