EA's Humble Origin Bundle is most successful ever

Highly-sought games compilation raises $7 million for charity with nine days remaining

Electronic Arts has generated more revenue from its Origin games compilation than any other Humble Bundle since the fundraiser launched in 2010.

The Humble Origin Bundle is a collection of six EA games for PC - from cult parkour title Mirror's Edge to the 2013 title Dead Space 3 - that can be bought together for as little as $1. All proceeds go to charity.

As well as having the freedom to decide how much to pay for the Humble Origin Bundle, customers can also choose from a selection of charities to receive their donation.

If customers pay above the average donation (which, at the time of going to press, is $4.82), then they will also receive Battlefield 3 and The Sims 3.

At the time of writing, the game collection has raised $6.9 million from about 1.4 million donations. That's already higher than the Humble Indie Bundle V, which in June broke a new record for the charity by raising $5.1 million in two weeks.

With nine days remaining until the charity run concludes, the Humble Origin Bundle looks set to eclipse that record by some margin.
