Irrational makes small number of layoffs

Studio says departures won't affect BioShock DLC development "in any way"

Irrational Games has confirmed a small number of layoffs.

In a statement issued to Kotaku, the studio said the staff departures won't impact development of BioShock Infinite DLC "in any way." It added:

"In an effort to streamline our processes I am sad to confirm that we let go a total of 8 employees today. Any studio's greatest asset is the group of people that make up the whole, and as such it was extremely hard to make this decision and there is never a good time for this to happen. As co-workers and friends, we wish them the very best."

Irrational announced in July that it is developing BioShock Infinite DLC that will bring players back to the underwater city of Rapture, the star of the first two games in the series.

'Burial at Sea' is two-part campaign add-on featuring a new story for Infinite protagonists Booker and Elizabeth. Players will take on the role of Booker in the first chapter and Elizabeth in the second. Playing as the female protagonist will be a less combat-focused and more strategic experience.

The Burial at Sea campaigns will be available individually for £9.99 (1200 Microsoft Points).
