Sony Computer Entertainment has announced a Japanese PS4 release date of Saturday February 22, 2014.
The console will be priced at 39,980 yen (£256 / $401), or 41,979 yen (£269 / $421) with tax. PS4 will also be available in Japan bundled with the PS Camera for 43,980 yen (£282 / $441), or 46,179 yen (£296 / $463) with tax.
Retailers will begin taking PS4 pre-orders from Saturday October 5. Japanese consumers who buy a PS4 at launch will be able to pick up a 'First Limited Pack' edition featuring a download code of Knack at no additional cost.
The announcement was made this morning during SCE Japan Asia's PlayStation press conference 2013.
Sony has confirmed a PS4 release date of November 15 in the US and November 29 in Europe. The console will be available in 32 countries this holiday priced at £349 / €399 / $399.
At today's event, the platform holder also revealed a redesigned Vita model. Launching on October 10 in Japan priced at 18,980 yen (£122 / $190), the Wi-Fi handheld is 20 per cent thinner (15mm) and 20 per cent lighter (219g) than the original Vita.
