From Software has detailed a number of gameplay changes to Dark Souls 2.
According to a Gamespot report, several changes have been made to the game's online aspects, including rules for invading and summoning.
Users are now able to summon players for a longer period than one boss battle, or the areas leading up to it. The period a co-op partner can be invited into a game will be determined by the size of the player's White Soapstone item. According to the report, each White Soapstone item will be depleted as the summoned player kills enemies.
Meanwhile, invaded players will be able to summon back-up players if they're part of a new covenant called 'Way of the Blue'.
Unlike in its predecessor, Undead players can be invaded in Dark Souls 2. Previously, a player needed to have Human status in order to be susceptible to invasions.
Finally, players who die while undead will experience a gradual depletion of their health bar, similar to being cursed in Dark Souls. Players will use a Human Effigy to become human, instead of Dark Souls' 'Humanity' items.
Namco Bandai announced firm release dates for Dark Souls 2 earlier today. It will release for consoles on March 11 in North America and March 14 in Australia and Europe. A PC release will follow.
The publisher also released a new trailer depicting footage from the game's E3 2013 preview build.
