Surface 2 UK prices climb from £359 to £1439

Microsoft reveals how much its new tablet will set you back

Microsoft has announced the UK price points for its new Surface 2 tablets.

Revealed on Monday, the Surface 2 is the successor to the tablets Microsoft released in October 2012, and comes in two main configurations.

The first is the Surface 2, which is an update of the Surface RT. It features Windows RT 8.1, a 1080p display, a 25 per cent increased battery life and a Tegra 4 processor with 72 graphics cores.

The premium alternative is the Surface Pro 2, which replaces the Surface Pro and includes a fully-featured version of Windows 8.1 Pro. it also offers a 20 per cent performance improvement over the original Pro, with a 4th-gen Intel Core i5 processor providing twice the graphical power. The battery also lasts 75 per cent longer.

Microsoft has confirmed that both the Surface 2 and Surface Pro 2 will release in both the US and UK on October 22. It has yet to be confirmed if this date applies for the rest of Europe.
