EA closes North Carolina studio, report claims

Job losses suspected at mobile freemium studio

EA has shut down its North Carolina development studio, a new report has claimed.

According to an anonymous source speaking to The Escapist, EA has "decided to close up the North Carolina studio".

There has yet to be official confirmation on this from EA, with the only suggestion it's accurate being the removal of the North Carolina section from the list of studios on the EA website.

The anonymous source also reports that there will be few job losses, as "most of the team will be relocating before the 5th [of October]".

EA North Carolina specialised in mobile and freemium titles, its most recent release being iOS title Monopoly Hotels.

In July this year, EA closed the EA Phenomic studio, creator of free-to-play titles Lord of Ultima and Command & Conquer: Tiberium Alliances.

CVG has reached out to EA for confirmation and comment.
