First Thief gameplay video shows off infiltration, theft and escape

Square Enix has released the first gameplay trailer for Thief.

The trailer offers a look at "Garrett's hideout, the dark alleys of the City, and your old friend and fence Basso".

The three-minute video also shows Garrett entering Baron Northcrest's manor to steal the Heart of the Lion. It showcases the three main pillars of Thief's gameplay: Infiltration, Theft and Escape.

Theif is being developed in house by Eidos Montreal, the studio behind Deus Ex: Human Revolution. Current-gen versions of the game are being development alongside their next-gen counterparts. Its developer has said work on the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions will not effect the release of next-gen versions.

Square Enix has confirmed a Thief release date of February 25 on PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One in North America, and February 28 in Europe.

In early April, we wrote in this Thief preview: "Garrett might well be most comfortable in the shadows, but in the run-up to next-gen Thief will have to deal with the spotlight. And on this first unveiling, at least, the stealth adventure isn't cracking under pressure."
