Killer Instinct 'Pin Ultimate Edition' revealed

Digital game comes in physical box with limited edition pins

Microsoft has revealed a premium 'Pin Ultimate Edition' of Killer Instinct on Xbox One.

Being sold exclusively via the Microsoft Store, the $59.99 edition of the game comes in a fancy box containing a download code for the game, and a folio with two limited edition pins (Jago, and the Killer Instinct logo).

These are part of a 16-pin collection, with additional pins "sold separately or available as part of future promotional activities".

"Each character will get its own pin and the official Killer Instinct page will reveal surprise pins, every month until the end of the season, that can be earned through your community and in-game efforts," explains Microsoft.

The Pin Ultimate Edition will also come with all the Killer Instinct Ultra Edition content.

Killer Instinct is a reboot of Rare's classic arcade and Super Nintendo fighting game. It will release for Xbox One at launch (November 22) and will be free-to-play with a single playable character - Jago.

A 'Combo Breaker pack' will include the first eight characters (the six launch characters, plus the two next characters before their official post-launch release) for $19.99 / £16.99 / €19.99.

Alternatively, the Ultra Edition ($39.99 / £34.99 / €39.99) is described by Microsoft as "the best value for Killer Instinct fans". As well as the same eight characters from the Combo Breaker pack, it will include character accessory packs, character costumes and the original "Killer Instinct" arcade game.
