Resident Evil 5 has overtaken Street Fighter 2 to become Capcom's best-selling game ever.
The Japanese publisher said today that 2009's Xbox 360, PS3 and PC action game has sold 6.5 million copies, 200,000 more than 1992's SNES fighting title.
The updated software sales figures were revealed alongside the publication of the company's financial report for the first half of its business year.
Capcom's net sales totalled 53,234 million yen (£338m / $542m) during the six month period ended September 30, up 16.9 per cent year-on-year.
Net income jumped 20 per cent during the same timeframe, coming in at 4,950 million yen (£31.5m / $50m).
3DS exclusive Monster Hunter 4 "was an immediate success" and shipped 2.8 million units during the six month period, while Resident Evil: Revelations and Phoenix Wright Ace Attorney: Dual Destinies "basically achieved projected sales", Capcom said.
