Japan's top selling games of the 21st century revealed

Famitsu has released a list of Japan's top 100 selling games of the 21st century.

The sales chart covers the period between January 1, 2001 and September 29, 2013. The top 40 is listed below, while 41-100 can be viewed on NeoGAF.

Leading the chart is 2006's New Super Mario Bros. for DS, which has shifted almost 6.5 million copies. It comes in ahead of Pokémon Diamond & Pearl, Pokémon Black & White, Pokémon Ruby & Sapphire and Animal Crossing: Wild World.

Brain Age 2, New Super Mario Bros. Wii, Monster Hunter Freedom 3, Dragon Quest IX: Sentinels of the Starry Skies and Mario Kart DS round off the top ten.

While Pokemon X & Y holds the No.1 spot on the weekly software chart
