The Last of Us 'Left Behind' DLC gets first trailer

Naughty Dog has detailed and released a short trailer for 'Left Behind', new DLC for the studio's critically acclaimed post-apocalyptic action game The Last of Us.

The video was shown during Spike TV's PlayStation 4 launch event, and features Ellie, along with Riley Abel, who was introduced as a close friend to the character during the main campaign, finding themsleves in a derelict fairground.

"Ashley Johnson reprises her role as Ellie in The Last of Us: Left Behind single-player DLC," the studio said on the PlayStation Blog. "Left Behind takes place while Ellie is attending a military boarding school in the Boston quarantine zone, prior to meeting Joel and the events in the main campaign of The Last of Us."

The studio has said Ellie will be playable through the entire DLC and is joined by Riley, a character introduced as a close friend to Ellie in the main story campaign.

"Joining Ellie on this new adventure is Riley, her best friend and also a mentor of sorts at the military boarding school. Just as The Last of Us focused on the bond between Ellie and Joel, Left Behind explores the bond between Ellie and Riley through a series of events that will forever change both of their lives."

Creative director Neil Druckmann confirmed in July that news on single-player DLC was incoming, but the developer has been tight-lipped since.

Druckmann also offered hinted at a possible sequel for the PS3 exclusive, saying "We're playing with some ideas, but no direction has been set yet for the next game."

Sony hasn't offered an official release date, however, The Last of Us' DLC is expected in early 2014.
