ArenaNet will bolster Guild Wars 2's Fractals of the Mists with several new mini-instances, bosses, and rewards for stalwart dungeon divers on Nov. 26.
The changes announced today will add three new Fractals, or roughly half-hour long mini-instances, to the pool of randomly selected challenges for players. Each of the three is based on a historical event from Tyrian history: the Thaumanova Reactor meltdown, the Molten Furnace raid, and the Aetherblade base infiltration.
Players still fight through three fractals of increasing difficulty before reaching a boss, but with a retuned difficulty curve and two new final encounters joining the lineup: Aetherblade captain Mai Trin and the Molten Alliance champions.
Completing the new Fractals of the Mists will earn players gold in addition to specialized currencies, new runes and sigils for gear, and on rare occasions a transformative Fractal Tonic.
Guild Wars 2 released in August 2012 and sold 3.5 million copies as of a year later. NCsoft is planning an expansion for the MMORPG, but has yet to announce any details.
