The game is said to be built with a "brand new racing engine specifically developed" for the mobile platforms.

It features 10 tracks (each reversible, for a total of 20 track layouts), 12 customizable cars, Arcade and career modes, with the later containing over 100 racing events.

There will be no multiplayer mode at launch, but it is promised in an upcoming update, along with other "regularly-scheduled content".

Ridge Racer is an arcade racing series that started life in Japanese arcades in 1993 but rose to fame as an iconic PlayStation series after its debut on the PS1 in 1994.

A Ridge Racer game has featured in the launch-day lineup of every PlayStation console except the recently-released PS4.
