Sony says it's investigating a growing number of cases of PS4 players being locked out of online games in titles including Killzone Shadow Fall, Call of Duty Ghosts and Battlefield 4.
Affected users receive an error message warning them that they require a PlayStation Plus subscription to play online.
PlayStation Europe community manager Chris Owen said on Twitter today:
Anyone on #PS4 getting the message 'You need PS Plus to play online' There is no problem with your subscription. we are investigating ATM— Chris Owen (@Envisager_) December 9, 2013
The official Killzone Twitter account also said the problem was unrelated to upcoming PSN maintenance.

@igordelija unfortunately, it's not. It's an unexpected event, confirmed by Sony. PSN maintenance was supposed to start at 18.00CET.— Killzone (@killzone) December 9, 2013
During the downtime, online gameplay and app access should be available to users who have recently signed into their PSN account and have their authentication details cached. PS Store, PS Home and Account Management services will be unavailable.
