DayZ standalone alpha released

Potential buyers should be prepared to face "serious issues and possible interruptions of game functioning".

DayZ's alpha has been released on Steam Early Access and via Bohemia's online store.

Priced at £19.99 / € 23.69, it provides access to an early version of the open-world zombie MMO game.

The product description clearly reiterates recent comments from creator Dean Hall, in which he warned players that the game is far from complete.

Bohemia doesn't expect the title to reach beta version with all key features present for more than another year. Alpha players should be willing to face "serious issues and possible interruptions of game functioning", the studio explained:

DayZ Early Access is your chance to experience DayZ as it evolves throughout its development process. Be aware that our Early Access offer is a representation of our core pillars, and the framework we have created around them. It is a work in progress and therefore contains a variety of bugs.

We strongly advise you not to buy and play the game at this stage unless you clearly understand what Early Access means and are interested in participating in the ongoing development cycle.

A lengthy DayZ gameplay video was released last month, showing the title in a pre-alpha state.
