All Talk: 2013's most memorable games industry quotes

2013 has been a year defined by huge launches, PR blunders and the occasional Twitter feud.

As CVG prepares a series of reflective features to be published over the Christmas holidays, let's take a look back at some of the most memorable games industry quotes of 2013.

"We have a product for people who aren't able to get some form of connectivity, it's called Xbox 360. If you have zero access to the internet, that is an offline device."

Xbox boss Don Mattrick insists Microsoft made a "good choice" by ensuring Xbox One requires an internet connection. A week later the policy was reversed. Two weeks later Mattrick resigned.

"We believe in the model that people embrace today with PS3 and continue to demand. When a gamer buys a PS4 disc... they can trade it, sell it, lend it to a friend, or keep it forever."

In a direct throwdown to rival Microsoft, SCEA CEO Jack Tretton confirms that PS4 games will not carry online or trade-in restrictions, causing the crowd to burst into applause.

"Sexuality is a touchy subject. We don't want to make people offended, but we're trying to create something that makes people laugh a bit because we're [dealing with] that topic."

Microsoft Studios VP Phil Spencer plays down the significance of the news that some Xbox One launch games run at a lower native resolution than their PS4 counterparts.
