Sales of the alpha version of DayZ hit 172,500 in the game's first 24 hours of availability.
That's according to an update on Bohemia Interactive CEO Marek Spanel's Tumblr, which logged the total number of concurrent players at 142,403.
DayZ's alpha was released on Steam Early Access and via Bohemia's online store on Monday. Priced at £19.99 / € 23.69, it provides access to an early version of the open-world zombie MMO game.
The product description clearly reiterates recent comments from creator Dean Hall, in which he warned players that the game is far from complete.
Bohemia doesn't expect the title to reach beta version with all key features present for more than another year. Alpha players should be willing to face "serious issues and possible interruptions of game functioning", the studio explains.
A lengthy DayZ gameplay video was released last month, showing the title in a pre-alpha state.
