Namco Bandai has released Ridge Racer Slipstream for iOS devices for $2.99/£1.99.
Its release marks the 20th Anniversary of Namco's iconic arcade racing series, and promises "console-quality graphics" on mobiles new enough to handle it (requires iOS 7.0 or later, and is optimized for iPhone 5).
Here's a new launch trailer:
The game is said to be built with a "brand new racing engine specifically developed" for the mobile platforms.
It features 10 tracks (each reversible, for a total of 20 track layouts), 12 customizable cars, Arcade and career modes, with the later containing over 100 racing events.
There will be no multiplayer mode at launch, but it is promised in an upcoming update in 2014, along with other "regularly-scheduled content".
An Android version will be released in "early 2014", says Namco.
